The Environmental Laboratory was one in which, historically, the first installations of LIMS Polisystem Informatica were made (since 1996).

The Environmental Laboratory carries out Chemical and Microbiology tests, often involving Drawing activities and measurements in the field; it is therefore essential to organize the Calendar of sampling, rationalization and support the activities of Pickers.

Each of environmental sampling activities should be properly planned, but also allow you to handle exceptions.

Drawing sheets must be able to represent not only a guide, but also a flexible tool for data collection in the field, whether it be of measurements collecting information (data, documents, images …); that’s why the traditional sheets of Sampling paper must be accompanied, when the operational situation permits, from “electronic” Drawing Sheets, through the use of Portable Terminals (Tablet, Smartphone, Industrial).

In this way, at the return to the laboratory, it is no longer necessary transcription, with an evident saving of time and a drastic reduction of errors.

These Drawing sheets, also need to be specific, to allow for the organized collection of typical data: for example, for emissions into the atmosphere, Variables and Physical measurements on individual sampling lines must be able to count on a dedicated front end.

The pre-labeling Bar-Code of Sample is useful, which speeds up the subsequent identification and confirmation sampling occurred during Acceptance.

To support the analytics Laboratory, are the strategic “specializations”:

• For Waste samples is the automation of the necessary logic for proper and sophisticated classification and application of criteria in landfills Eligibility:
  • these automated, always up to date with current legislation, whose temporal and local mutability is often costly to manage, are based on pre-loaded files, provided by Polisystem IT consultants, but modified and integrated by the Laboratory;
  • Furthermore the completeness and readability of Test Reports requires the availability of specific layouts;
• For samples of Emissions into the atmosphere, the structuring of repeated tests must be easy and fast (Official Controls):
  • Withdrawals are less critical if the calculation of Sinking points is automated and the values measured at these points are “graficizzati?”
  • Standardization of the results is essential
  • completeness and readability of Test Reports requires the availability of specific layouts;
• The controls on water gain tremendous benefit if the process to be monitored is governed using Control Charts, which allow managers to intervene promptly when needed;

Even the Georeferentiation, now also widespread in daily life, here assumes a particular value, both in the support phase with the sampling activities that, above all, in the process of Detection Statistics.

Many LIMS offer the possibility of getting only traditional test reports, insufficient in the event of it being indispensable in preparing technical reports, which must be complete, clear and eye-catching; LIMS Polisystem of Informatics offers the possibility to choose between different technical report, in which are shown not only the Test Reports, but also technical comments of detail, with photographs, drawings, tables.

Environmental laboratory, the tests are often numerous and “routine”; for this reason it is indispensable automatic data acquisition (variable and / or results) from the Tools;

In the event that the Laboratory is required to apply analytical protocols for Quality Assurance of data (frequently documented in application of Methods EPA, it is crucial the Module “QA / QC DataPackage” activated at three levels (Basic, Standard and Top) which ensures the integrated management of the LIMS of reliable data and legally defensible, through the application of consistent quality control criteria.

Increasing importance is the service, which the Laboratory makes available to its customers, for the consultation of results and download of Test Reports via its Web portal.
