The Base Module of LIMS “Analisi” uses, in a specialized way, the flexibility and completeness of its data structure and functionality for the management of a laboratory that carries out mainly Test on Materials.

Often, in the laboratories that carry out tests on materials, a traditional L.I.M.S. Software System (often thought of Environmental Laboratories / Food / Clinical) misses easy application for the particularity of the structure data of the tests, the need to describe the physical and dimensional characteristics of materials freedom and variability, to carry out tests on a series of test-pieces whose number is defined by each Regulation, to inspect and apply particular specifications requested by the customer for each sample, and especially to the need to produce Test Reports with variable layout in the individual sections, which introduces drawings, images or tables.
For this reason, often, Material Test Laboratories, which historically have been among the first to obtain accreditation, are precisely those who least use standard LIMS, preferring even office automation tools for general use (Excel, Word, …), while with all the obvious disadvantages consequent loss of use of a structured DataBase.
In fact, in this way, the same data are loaded or copied several times, the creation of Test Reports is made “to collage”, it is difficult to use integrated systems of automatic acquisition of values from instruments and does not exist what the LIMS is for definition: a “Management System” that supports and manages the Laboratory of Processes.
In particular, the accredited laboratories in which they chose to simply use these office automation systems, it also becomes difficult and onerous to comply with the dictates of the Regulation (Ex .: ensure complete traceability of data, manage the qualification of operators, etc ..) .
In other cases, the laboratory has decided to develop a custom software solution, with development costs, maintenance and validation definitely higher than those of a standard LIMS.
Only a software LIMS based on a DataBase allows to manage the workflow of Laboratory starting from Budgeting, management contracts, the formalization of an Acceptance Sample, the organization of Spreadsheets for Laboratory, control of results, the drafting of Test Reports, …., Until the preparation of bills, and the subsequent Statistics surveys.
Only a standard LIMS (C.O.T.S.) benefits from a project and development prospects guaranteed by a specific experience of the Software House, assures and guarantees timely “compliance” with the Regulations.
